I am in my second week of my summer lab work, and, truth be told, there’s not much to write about as far as that goes. So I thought I’d look back on a few activities that happened during the spring semester but which I didn’t have enough time to write about back then.

In early May a call went out to any interested vet students to help with the “YMCA horse processing.” No, that didn’t mean they needed volunteers to process horse meat. What it was was an opportunity to “play vet” for a day with a large collection of horses that are used at YMCA camps throughout Minnesota. At the end of the camp season, the horses are collected from the various camps and moved to a single farm that is located about two and a half hours north of Minneapolis/St. Paul. Come spring time, before the horses are shipped back to their collective camps, they are “processed” during a single Saturday.
