Since we lost Willow, however, and she became the only dog in the house, she has been particularly vocal (not barking, but, rather, a prolonged Leonberger vocalization that some people refer to as “Wookie noises”) whenever we’d return from a day at school or work. Being the astute animal communicators that we are, instead of taking that to mean that she missed us and was happy to see us, we instead took it to mean that she was lonely being the only dog.

Mini the miniature horse foal continues to improve. She is now off of I.V. fluids and no longer needs a feeding tube - she is now comfortable drinking from a bottle. The current focus is to maintain her steady improvement as well as work on correcting her posture. She currently walks with her fetlocks too far back and near the ground. They have taped tongue depressors to the back of each of her hooves to add height to the back of the hooves in hopes of conditioning her legs to naturally set in the proper posture. When she is a bit older she will probably get special shoes. Corrective measures to a horse’s gait at this stage in development are often successful, so it is everyone’s hope that she will grow to be a normal, healthy horse.
